The off-season is over
But the last two months have been kind of lazy and indulgent. I take my off-season pretty seriously. I commit to eating, enjoying family and friends, sleeping, relaxing, cross-training, lounging, and drinking waaaaaay too much wine. No guilt. It's a giant reprieve from the mental side of racing and by the end of it I'm ready to get fired up again.
So, here goes 2013. The first job is to lose the 10 lbs of decadence I put on in Australia. The second job should take care of the first - get fit for the 72 km Lake Louise to Banff Loppet on Jan 20. It's like cramming for an exam........a big cross-country ski binge. I am two days in and can't walk for the soreness, but I'm loving being on my skis again.
And then......Barkley. It's all about Barkley. I'll have 11 weeks to get in the best shape my life.....not an easy task considering it is the middle of winter here. The plan? Run commute to and from work, stair repeats, snowshoe, disappear somewhere warm on my reading break, and hit Prairie Mountain hard! Just think, my A-race will be over before the first signs of spring.
2012, you have been fabulous.
